Pulses & Lentils

Pulses, lentils, beans and peas have been consumed for at least 10,000 years and are among the most extensively used foods in the world. They are known for their nutritional value by providing protein and fibre, as well as a significant source of vitamin and minerals, such as iron, zinc, folate, and magnesium. They are also low glycemic index and in addition, phytochemicals, saponins, and tannins found in them possess antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic effects.

 

The main difference between Pulses and Lentils is that pulses are the edible seeds  of legumes whereas lentils are a type pulses with lens-shaped seeds. In conclusion, including them in the diet is a healthy way to meet dietary requirements.
